About this site
This site publishes the official results and judges' protocols of South African figure skating competitions — national championships, provincial championships, inter-club competitions and tests. Each competition's results are the files produced by the scoring system used at the event, published here as they came off it.
The competitions themselves are run by provincial structures and federations, which are members of the South African Figure Skating Association (SAFSA), the national federation for figure skating in South Africa.
Where the results come from
Results are not compiled here. They are produced by the provincial structures and federations that run the competitions, using the ISU-recognised scoring software operated by the technical panel at each event, and are uploaded to this site by the officials responsible for that competition.
That means this site is a publisher, not the source. Where a result, a name or a placing looks wrong, the correction has to come from the body that ran the competition — the provincial structure or federation concerned — and the corrected package is then republished here. An enquiry sent through this site reaches the people who run the site, who can raise it with the organising body, but whether a result stands was never theirs to decide.
A competition appears here only once its organisers have published it. Until then it is not visible, even though the file may already have been uploaded.
Privacy notice
This notice explains what personal information this site collects, why, and what you can do about it. It is written to meet the requirements of the Protection of Personal Information Act, 2013 (POPIA).
Who is responsible
Under POPIA the responsible party is whoever decides why personal information is processed. For the results published here that is the provincial structure or federation that ran the competition and uploaded them: they take the entries, run the event, produce the result and decide to publish it. Each is the responsible party for its own competitions, so there is no single one for the whole site.
ZBQsys designs, hosts and runs the site as an operator on their behalf. It stores and publishes what the federations upload; it does not decide what is collected, and it does not add to it. SAFSA is the national federation those structures belong to — the site sits outside the association, with its knowledge and consent, and it does not run this site either.
A request about your own information can be sent through the contact form. Where it concerns a published result, it is passed to the body that ran that competition, because the decision is theirs rather than this site's — and you are told where it went. Information the association itself holds about you, such as membership, entries or licensing, is SAFSA's to answer for and is asked for at safsa.org.za.
What is collected, and why
- Competition results. The names, clubs, provinces, categories, placings and scores of skaters who competed, together with the officials on each panel. This is supplied by the provincial structures and federations that ran the competition, not gathered here and not added to here, and is published because publishing the result of a competition is what a result is for — the outcome of a sporting event held in public, needed by skaters, coaches, clubs and selectors, and required for national and international records.
- Enquiries. If you use the contact form, the name, addresses and message you supply, so that the site's administrators can answer you. The address you ask to be answered on is confirmed with a one-time code before the message is sent, so that the reply reaches the person who actually wrote it.
- Access to management functions. For officials who sign in, the identity details their account provides and a record of the administrative actions they take. Accounts are held by the identity provider, not by this site.
- Technical records. Server logs of requests, including IP addresses, kept to keep the service running and to identify abuse.
Nothing here is used for advertising or profiling, and nothing is sold. The site sets no advertising or analytics cookies. Your display preferences — light or dark theme, for instance — are stored in your own browser and are never sent to the server.
Who it is shared with
Competition results are published openly and can be read by anyone, including search engines. Enquiries are delivered to the people who run this site; where answering one needs it, the substance is raised with the federation that ran the competition, and you are told when that happens. Beyond that, personal information is shared only with the service providers used to run the site — hosting, messaging and identity — and only as far as delivering the service requires. It is not transferred outside South Africa except where a provider's own infrastructure requires it, and then under the safeguards POPIA requires.
How long it is kept
Competition results are a permanent record and are kept indefinitely: they are the historical record of the sport in South Africa. Enquiries sent through the contact form are kept for two years and then deleted automatically. Confirmation codes are deleted as soon as they are used or expire. Server and administrative logs are kept for a limited retention period set by the administrator and then purged automatically.
How it is protected
The site is served over encrypted connections. Sign-in is handled by a dedicated identity provider with multi-factor authentication, administrative actions are restricted by permission and recorded, and stored credentials are encrypted. No system is perfect, and this notice is not a warranty — but security is treated as part of running the site, not as an afterthought.
Your rights
Under POPIA you may:
- ask what personal information about you is held, and get a copy of it;
- ask for information that is wrong or misleading to be corrected;
- ask for information to be deleted where there is no longer a reason to keep it;
- object to a particular use of your information; and
- complain to the Information Regulator.
Use the contact form to exercise any of these. A published competition result is a different case from the rest: it is a record of something that happened at a public event, so a request to remove one is considered on its merits together with the body that ran the competition, and the outcome is explained to you either way.
If you are not satisfied with how this site has handled a request, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa.
Children
Many competitors are children. Their results are published because a competition result is published — no more about a child is shown than the competition itself produced, and this site collects nothing further about them. A parent or guardian with a concern about a published result should use the contact form. A result can be taken down here while it is looked into, and the question of whether it was right is put to the body that ran the competition.
Changes to this notice
This notice may be updated as the site changes. The version on this page is the one that applies.

About this website — a page that will not load, a results package that will not open, a competition that is missing, a result that looks wrong here: use the contact form, which reaches the administrators who run the site. You will be asked to confirm your email address or WhatsApp number with a one-time code before the message is sent, so that they can reply to you.
About the association, membership, entries or a competition itself — those are SAFSA's, not this site's. Use the contact details on safsa.org.za. Anything sent here that belongs with them is passed on.
Who runs this site
This site is designed, built, hosted and run by ZBQsys. The results on it are uploaded by the provincial structures and federations that run the competitions — they remain theirs, and ZBQsys publishes them on their behalf rather than deciding what appears. The site sits outside SAFSA, with the association's knowledge and consent. Technical faults reported through the contact form reach the people who maintain it.
